The research carried out by Red Sea has identified 31 minor and trace elements that are present in the skeleton and soft tissue of corals in addition to the basic building blocks.

In the product family of "Coral Color" additives, these elements are divided into four groups (Coral Colors A, B, C and D), which are linked by the biological functions they perform and also with the production of special color pigments in the soft tissue related to hard corals.

These pigments can only be produced if the special elements required for the biochemical process are present in the correct concentration.

All 31 elements are required by all hard corals, regardless of the color the coral shows.

 

Easy to dose based on calcium consumption
Red Sea’s Coral Color supplements have been formulated so that the ratio of elements in each supplement is the same as in the skeleton and soft tissue of coral.

Our research has shown that the ratio between each of the elements in our trace colors and the total calcium consumption, which is proportional to coral growth and metabolic activity, must be constant. This provides a simple and safe method of dosing all Trace Colors supplements based on a measured calcium intake.

The Trace Colors A, B and C each contain a leading element (iodine, potassium and iron), which can be measured precisely with the unique Trace Colors Pro test kits from Red Sea. For ULNS systems, the trace colors A, B and C should be dosed exactly according to the measured consumption of the corresponding element of the reef.
